The BackBlast:

Pre-Q communication indicated there would be a cake to celebrate ChewToy’s birthday from the previous week.  QiC also requested all PAX to relocate the typical parking to make room in the parking lot to spread out.

Conditions: 41 degrees and a bit breezy

PAX arrived, parked in the requested area and saw cones were set up.  Some mumble chatter was focused around the shape of the coupons… guesses were a baseball field but really spread out bases.  QiC corrected them, saying that it is a cross.

Disclaimer was given and QiC said that in order for everyone to eat cake, everyone needs to contribute.

Warm-up: QiC had trouble planning a cake themed work out as the initial plan was to throw cakes in the church parking lot.  Based on it being Easter weekend, the decision to throw cake was scrapped.

PAX started the warm-up with a “full cross” mosey with very tight turns to ensure Strava art would end with a cross shape.

PAX then circled up and 10 PAX started with a round robin in-cadence warm-up.

After 5 PAX-chosen warm-ups, a “full cross” mosey was done.

An 11th PAX (Balboa) arrived after the mosey and joined in.  QiC tried to get the “cake” themed playlist going and had some issues.  Issues were resolved soon.

Remaining PAX completed the warm-up and a “long end cross” mosey was done.

The Thang:

Round 1

PAX all grabbed coupons and circled back up.  QiC mentioned he wanted to try something he saw in the exicon… everyone had to talk like a hillbilly as the exercise suggestions rotated around the circle. Each PAX had to initiate the exercise by saying “Hey!  Watch iss, bet chew can’t do 10 (or any quantity)”…

Exercises started with manmakers and evolved into curls, overhead presses, taint tappers, step ups, etc…”  fun was had.. Some of us need to work on hillbilly accents.

A full “reverse cross” mosey was done by all.

Round 2

PAX circled back up and a new twist was added in which PAX had the option of continuing to talk like a hillbilly for their exercise, or choose a purple popsicle stick with an isometric hold exercise on one end and a repeating complimentary exercise on the other.  PAX who selected the popsicle stick had to go in the middle of the circle and do the isometric hold until exhaustion while outside PAX did repeating reps.  List of exercises that could be selected were:

Isometric Holds Complimentary Exercise
Plank Plank Jacks
Curl hold Curls
Middle Floor Merkin Merkins
Al Gore Squat Squats
Glute Bridge Glute Raises
Side Plank Hold Side Plank Raises
Bear Plank Donkey Kicks
Calf Raise Hold Calf Raises

50% of PAX stayed as hillbillies and the other half decided to test their luck with purple popsicle sticks.  Tuck had the PAX rifle carry coupons on a “short end cross” mosey.

Final “full cross” mosey was done.

COT

Prayers for job loss, families reuniting after an extended time as well as PAX challenged to be aware of what kind of CROSS they are carrying and how they are carrying their CROSS.

Caketeria

PAX all stayed for cake and a side of coffee.  Mai Tai’s daughter (Velveeta) made the cake.

There was some discussion about how great the new parking situation was and how it gives us so much more space!  Satellites and outer space were also discussed.

Side Note

ChewToy was sick and didn’t make it to his own birthday celebration.  ;-(

Everyone really enjoyed the cake themed playlist and some PAX are still continuing to sing or hum the songs throughout the day.
