The BackBlast:
Inspired by Balboa’s epic backblast of Wednesday last, and stuffed with stuffing and muscles of mashed potatoes, Dutch Oven wasn’t in the mood for anymore Thanksgiving-themed shenanigans so the beatdown was AMRAP exercises for the duration of each song, mixed up by a few “rest” exercises. Dr. Seuss and Slice drove the clown car down from the valley of Lehigh, while Startup came right from Walmart (early Black Friday shopping, perhaps?) right after leaving the ford in the river belonging to Royer. Spoiler, still tripping on tryptophan, was a tardy turkey flying in from the north, which prompted a round of penalty circle-burps. Sure, let’s call those the warm up, shall we?
With Mix-Master DJ-Minivan holding the speaker, the mosey to the pond seemed a lot further in the moonless gloom — Chewtoy assures us it was only a half-mile each way — where we did Side Straddle Dan Connellys to Chumbawumba’s Tubthumping, burpeeing every time they sang “I get knocked down, but I get up again”.
The return mosey to the carport was a welcome respite only to be dampened by sonic thunder — planking to AC/DC’s Thunderstruck and doing merkins when they sang (screeched?) “thunder!” Of course after being struck by THAT much thunder, we squatted through the song’s bridge for rest. The PAX sang along (okay, more like moaned) to CCR’s seminal hit Proud Mary as we did Big Boy Situps, Pickle Pounders, Gas Pumpers, Supermans, and American Hammers.
By now it felt a sheer relief to stand up, albeit running briskly in place to The Police (not from the police), burpeeing to every “Roxanne” and tuck jumping (no relation) with every “red light”. We ran so many red lights we were clearly in the Danger Zone (Kenny Loggins), with hairy Rockettes relieved only by LOW SLOW Squats on the choruses. We finished with a royal flourish: Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. It was supposed to be Imperial Walkers for the entire duration but all sense of order and propriety devolved into a “do what you want” free-form jazz exploration of random exercises.
6MOM by committee.
COT: Saturday is Steeltown’s Manniversary (see Slack for details); the boys at The Pond in Fleetwood invited us to join them for a Christmas party Dec 7 at Golden Oaks Golf Club for some virtual golf and food (just the gold is virtual). Let’s continue to pray for Balboa’s mom as she endured more chemo and is fighting cancer, and offer thanks for a good MRI result for Hops’s M.
An extended Coffeeteria at Americana Diner for half the men rounded out the morning.
