The BackBlast:

Conditions : 30°F, clear skies and dry with almost no wind

YHC was kind of hyped to show up and see 6 other PAX already there early and ready to go!  We waited a few minutes to see if anyone else was coming and then got moving.  I should say, we continued to move.  This was our first sub-freezing beatdown of the season, so we all were shuffling around, dancing back and forth to stay warm.

YHC’s decided to stay out of the grass, crunchy with frost – for the most part, at least not laying down in it when we could lay down on the cold, heartless, unforgiving pavement instead.

DISCLAIMER was given, including “it is dark and might be slippery out, don’t hurt yourself, and don’t sue anyone.”

Warmup :

  1. 10x SSHs – IC
  2. 10x arm circles – IC
  3. 10x little-baby-arm-circles IC
  4. 10x circle arms – IC
  5. 10x sprinklers – IC (a “Spike Favorite” as Element pointed out)
  6. 10x Daisy Pickers – IC
  7. arm stretch – right arm up and over head
  8. arm stretch – left arm up and over head
  9. high plank – best stretch ever – R foot then L foot
  10. Cobra Pose stretch

(YHC thinks he got the following exercises out of order, but oh well) :

Mosey to corner of the park, where YHC asked Slide Rule “how long have you been married?”
Answer : 21 years
So we proceeded to do 21 plank jacks in cadence.

Mosey to the next corner of the park, where YHC asked Element “how old is your youngest child?”
Answer : 23 years
So we proceeded to do 23 mountain climbers in cadence

Mosey to the middle of the park, where YHC asked Hall Pass “how many years since you graduated high school?”
Answer : 21 years
Then we proceeded to do 21 shoulder taps in cadence

Mosey to the far corner of the park, where YHC asked Humboldt “add up all your children’s ages, and what do you get?”
Answer : 14 years
Then we proceeded to do 14 “little Orphan Annies” in cadence.

Mosey down to the VFW parking lot.

The Thang :

11s with travel routine
Starting out with 10 Merkins > bear crawl to the other side > 1 Squat
9 merkins > bear crawl > 2 squats
down to :
5 merkins > bear crawl > 6 squats

The bear crawl distance was around 4 parking spot lengths, which got old really fast, so YHC called an audible, and we stopped at 6/5 instead of going all the way down to 1/10 (as “11s” were intended to do).

Next up :
10 heels to heaven – lunge walk – 1 flying squirrel
9 heels to heaven > lunge walk > 2 flying squirrels, etc.
down to : 1 heels to heaven > lunge walk > 10 flying squirrels

This time  YHC adjusted the distance to about 2 parking spot lengths instead of 4, in an attempt to do all 10 rounds, which we did!  Cheer.

Mosey back to the top of the hills by Reeves Park – where we held an Al Gore for about 5-10 seconds until the 6 arrived, then mosey to the flag.

Count-a-rama : 7

Announcements : Trigger is on Q this Saturday – should be a blast.  We have a special 2.0 Friendly Thanksgiving Beatdown – bring any visiting family, or your 2.0s with you!

COT :
Skunkworks saw a shooting star as we were in our COT Circle, and YHC was reminded about how small we are in this great universe of ours, as we were gazing up at the stars.  Thankful for the men who posted this morning.  Pretty sure YHC would have just gone home and back to bed unless these were there.  Fortunately, YHC didn’t have to find out!
