Mother Nature delivered extra GLOOM for the morning: 36º and mixture of rain and snow! Perfect weather to do hard things.
[As I understand it, the legend of Leroy Jenkins is as follows: While a bunch of online gamers strategized outside an enemy fort or castle deciding their best offensive move, it got a little too complicated for Leroy. He’s a man of action; farting around with a strategy committee did not suit his temperament. So when he had enough, and without any consensus in sight, he blazed off toward their target screaming LErooooooooy JENKins!!!! The other players had little recourse but to blindly follow and hope for the best. “Fortune favors the bold.”]
Warm Up – run around Reeves Park.
The Thang – After retrieving our coupons (thank you IG, Checkers, et al.) we rifle carried to the bandstand. Circle up.
Start first coupon exercise. When the next PAX in the circle has had enough he drops his coupon (gently) and shouts “Leroy Jenkins!” which sends the group on a sprint following him to a point on the sidewalk around the par of his choosing. Rinse and repeat.
The Coupon exercises – Imperial Blocker, Bulgarian Split Squat, We’re not worthy (kneeling front raise), Upright Row (to chin!), Lion King (thruster to weightlessness), U-Haul, Painkillers (blockees with double merkin/double plank jack), Gargoyles (Monkey Humpers on top of coupon), Heavy Freddies, Grave Diggers
COT – Leroy Jenkins embodies the ethos of F3‘s “I2” (Individual Initiative), the kind of bold leadership that inspires. And from Freed to Lead, our shovel flags may be old and dirty, worn and broken, or new and fresh, but we won’t let them hit the ground. Like the PAX. We come in all sorts of physical and mental and spiritual conditions, but we don’t let each other hit the ground, so take the opportunities as they come to pick others up and support them.
